THE HUNTING EXPERIENCE AT COPPER SPUR RANCH

Big Game, Big Country, Unmatched Solitude

Step into the wild heart of Colorado with our Private Hunting Excursion—an unforgettable experience on Copper Spur Ranch's 1,800 acres of prime hunting ground in Game Management Unit 15. Bordering the 12,000-acre Radium State Wildlife Area and surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of BLM and USFS land near Black and Yarmony Mountains, this is where serious hunters find both challenge and reward. Whether you're pursuing elk, deer, or bear, this is your chance to hunt unpressured land, sleep under the stars or in rustic comfort, and live out a true Western tradition.
Land Made for the Wild

Positioned in a unique horseshoe bend of the Colorado River, Copper Spur Ranch lies just 4.5 miles from the river to the west and 6.5 miles to the east. Elk migrate through this very land during September archery and early October seasons. Bear are often spotted during both archery and rifle seasons, and deer are abundant throughout the ranch during rifle season.

Choose Your Stay

Every hunting excursion includes lodging options to fit your style and group: The Main Guest House – Sleeps 10, fully equipped with modern comfort.
Glamping Tent – A private, off-grid retreat for two near a stocked pond.
Remote Hunting Cabin – For the rugged two-person backcountry experience. Each offers a place to rest and recharge after long days in the field.

A TRUE WESTERN HUNTING RETREAT

Freedom to Roam. Space to Hunt

At Copper Spur Ranch, we provide access—not schedules. While we don’t offer guided hunts, we’re happy to share local insights and topographic knowledge to help you plan your pursuit. You’ll need to bring your own ATV, UTV, or horses to navigate the land freely. Our hunters often venture from the ranch into nearby public lands, where record bucks and bulls have been harvested.

Our Guests Say it Best

“I’ve hunted a lot of public land, but this was next-level. Huge country, great access to GMU 15, and we saw elk moving right through the ranch during the first week of October. The Guest House was way more comfortable than I expected—it made the whole trip even better.”

5/5

Mike R., Rifle, CO

“Bear, deer, trout—we left with full freezers and even fuller hearts. The land was pristine, and having access to the surrounding public ground was a huge plus. We’ll be back next fall, no question.”

5/5

Jason B., Bozeman, MT

“The Glamping Tent was the perfect basecamp. Peaceful, private, and waking up next to the pond was unreal. The elk were moving across the upper ridge all morning—we spotted bulls on day two and tagged out by day four.”
